Travertine – a universal cladding

Travertine is a naturally occurring stone, which also makes it one of the more affordable natural stones. Most of the travertine cladding and flooring we supply to our clients comes from Italy, Spain and Turkey. The properties of each travertine vary with the climate of the country it comes from.

Italian travertine has long been considered the most popular, not least thanks to Romano Classico travertine, used in Rome since the time of Caesar. Travertine copes very well with temperature extremes, which makes it suitable for cladding façades or fireplaces. Even in high heat the colour of the stone does not fade. On the other hand, its porous structure makes it slip-resistant, so it is often installed around outdoor and indoor pools.

For the fireplace surround, our customer chose Noce travertine with a matt unfilled finish. Openings and vents were cut by water jet. Because we had the travertine in stock, we completed this project in minimal time.
